Who would crave the reputation of such men as those above named, and others like them ? Remembered, only because their wicked and cruel deeds cannot be erased from the memory. Hallowed af- fection shall not direct the memory voluntarily and with plea- sure to write their names upon its tablets.
Not so in reference to the righteous. By the natural, volun- tary, and grateful exercise of the memory of the good, and of all who have a regard for moral worth, they shall be held in vivid and perpetual... remembrance. Their name in connection with their faith in Christ and their holy lives will be treasured in the memory of all such. True affection, purified by grace and strengthened even by time, will have a controlling power. Thus 15 an embalming process is and will be rapidly going on. And the great cementing and preserving princple is love. The most re- freshing and delightful aroma is also exhaled.
•'' None but iho memory of the just Smells sweet and blossoms in the dust." As time rolls on, the excellences and blessed influences of the righteous will appear more and more valuable.
