His face all f...lushed with crimson, Grew redder and more red, And this is a small sample of what That noble member said : (He was a chap who tipped the scales At a good two-hundred weight) "Mr. Speaker, 'tis with sorrow That herewith I rise to state, That since I didn't answer when The clerk read that roll-call, It showed — why it just showed I reckon That I wasn't here at all ! " With a calm beatified expression On his expansive face, A 21 He squeezed himself back in his seat With a cute unconscious grace A fellow member rose and said : " Now it seems to me he was — Being here don't show his presence — Well, I rather guess it does!
