Northwards it breaks away in abrupt precipices, culminating in a fine rocky summit some 8,000 feet above the level of tlie sea ; Imt on 174 UNTRODDEN PEAKS ^ UNFREQUENTED VALLEYS, the side nearest the lake it slopes down in a succession of rich woods, pastures, and picturesque ravines.
