The city belongs to the third class and in 1919 had an estimated population of 2, 800. It is electrically lighted, the plant being the property of the city, erected at a cost of $40, 000. The waterworks, which also belong to the city, were estab- lished in 1890, the supply coming from the Marsh Springs, about four miles east of the city. Fifty thousand dollars have already been expended on the waterworks and further improvements are contem- plated.
