What Hugo never told Sybil was that the play was a two-hander in which he was the other actor. It was not until he was forty-one that they had married each other, so that it might be said that he was late in discovering his vocation; but, once he had discovered it, it was with the realization, common to actors, that he was really far happier being someone else than being himself.
