What reading level is Washing of Soils And Methods of Prevention book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

The type of terrace depends on the steep- ness of the slope and the character of the surface soil and the subsoil. The "level bench, " "guide row, " and "mangum" are all in use.
The level bench is used on the steeper slopes. Contours are es- tablished at a difference in elevation of three to five feet. Each terrace is then plowed downward with a hillside plow. In a few years enough soil is moved to make a fairly level bench. Each bench must be cul- tivated separately, and cuts or tracks across
...the edge of the bench must be avoided in order to prevent destruction by erosion.
The guide row is developed by throwing several furrows together on contour lines. Crops are seeded along or parallel to these rows. In time, with the use of the hillside plow, these may easily be devel- oped into the level bench. In both of these types there is a strip of uncultivated land on the edge of the terrace. This should have a good sod upon it to hold the soil. This uncultivated strip is undesir- able, as it is a waste of land and considerable time is required to keep down the weeds, which aside from their encroachment upon the crop, serve also as a home for mice and moles and as a breeding place for injurious insects.
