When, worn and tired and discouraged, the colonists came out of the woods from different directions on Sabbath mornings, the old saint of God would preach to them with a pathos and a fervid eloquence now seldom heard, and would send them back in the evening to their humble cabins with new courage, brighter hope, loftier purpose, and more un faltering trust to renew the struggle in the forest and hew out a home and competence.
