It is just four years since Morris died; but since then a great change has come, not only over that small & struggling Socialist party which drew from him so much of its consistency & vitality, but over the larger currents of public and na- tional life. The end of the century, now close upon us, might well seem to any highly kindled imagination the visible index of some approach- ing end of the world.
