And here terminates the more eventful period of the mission's history. From this time forward we meet with little calling for particular notice. 112 LAST CASE OF STRANGLING. The storms in which the mission had been cradled had spent themselves, and the stream of events flowed smoothly on. Between three and four years had passed since a case had occurred ; and the missionaries and the Chris- tian party were resting in the conviction that there would ibe no more strangling on Aneiteum. It was on the occa- sion of the death of a child ; the father and uncle of the child strangled their own mother!
