On several occasions when parades were planned, a crew of men were sent out the night before to put up posters along the line of march and paint slogans against whitewashed fences and walls. As tension diminished, programs for each occasion were carefully planned to hold the attention of those in attendance. A city-wide English-singing chorus was organized (October 1933) to sing at mass meet- ings, thereby to popularize the songs of the Left movement.
