Hydrogen was passed for thirty minutes at 400°, ammonia for thirty minutes at 600*^, and then nitrogen was passed through during the cooling period. We believed the nitrogen, after the elimination of oxygen to be a purer product than the ammonia.
The first and second boats contained a uni- form powder very dark gray in color.
